My passion is to create lasting images of people, places and things.
My philosophy, that I firmly believe in, is that Everyone Is Beautiful and Everyone Deserves to be photographed as best as humanly possible. To see and hear my clients be truly happy with the images I've created, is what I strive for each and every assignment. It warms my heart and makes me love what I do even more.
Last month I returned from photographing my continuing 30 plus year project of documenting the village in Sicily where my family resides. As I do everyday, I take a walk and photograph things I've never done. I've shared a few images via Facebook, but now it the time to write a blog post about those photos, but before I do, I have a story on why I make photographs in this tiny Sicilian village.
Three years ago was my last visit. As I was making images of children playing in the piazza, I saw the lady who lived next door to the place where I was staying, leaning outside on her balcony watching what I was doing. The light was beautiful and I asked if I could take her photo and she agreed. We started a conversation and I made more images. Three weeks after my return to the states, Concetta passed.
This year as I was walking past the very same piazza, the daughter and grandson of Concetta came up to me and told me a story. What they said brought tears to my eyes. They humbly thanked me for sharing the photograph I made of Concetta. They said that that was the very last image made of her and all of the family members have that image on their devices. It is a heart warming remembrance of their loved one. Concetta may have passed, but she will remain as a large part of the images I have created over the years of the people who live in Mandanici. In my images she and all the rest will live on.
